more bad news for VT bball
VT senior, Allen Calloway, who had a rare form of cancer in his leg for a little over a year, is now in the hospital in a coma because the cancer has spread to his brain, he had a stroke earlier this week but it does not look good for him
also VT wrestling coach Tom Brands has left VT for the head coaching job at Iowa, with him, he is taking last year's recruiting class as well as this year's #1 ranked recruiting class basically gutting the program...looks like VT will drop wrestling but give the funding to women's golf to comply with Title IX
supposedly a guy named Gable is going to get involved and VT has heard from a high profile coach that he wants the job and could keep the incoming freshman class if he is hired...guess it'll play out but pretty sad to go from lookin at a national title this year to not having a program at all

He is a huge name in wrestling. I thought maybe you was saying he was gonna be the coach. I didn't know he was in for the title 9 deal for wrestling though.

he is going to bat for the wrestling program in talking to Jim Weaver and talking to recruits about sticking with VT

If it is Dan Gable, then he could probably have the pull to do so. He is a huge figure in wrestling.
I must say, I am surprised he would try to get the recruits to stick with VT, when VT's coach is going to Iowa, Gables old stomping grounds.

well the new coach is supposed to be this guy's best friend so id say thats why...that and he doesnt want any school to lose a wrestling program

True. I didn't pay any attention to the best friend part, but it wouldn't surprise me about him trying to help keep wrestling available at major institutions.
